Cultural Report Year 2015-16

Cultural activities always play an important role in overall development of the students. Our college always encourages students to show their talent in various fields. The year 2015-16 was indeed an evenfull year for our college. A the very beginning of this year college was named after our honorable chairman Adv. V.B. Deshpande College of Commerce (Night) in the presence of Hon. Vice Chancellor, University of Mumbai, Dr. Sanjay Deshmukh and editor of Dainik Loksatta Shri. Girish Kuber. In addition other dignitaries including MPs, MLAs, Corporators, Politicians and reputed people from various fields graced the occasion. The enthusiasm continued throughout the year in various cultural events. College annual cultural activities started with organizing Friendship Day and Freshers Party in the month of August. On 19th October, Dandiya Raas was organized by cultural committee on the college ground. Cultural committee also celebrated Cultural Week in December, which included competitions like Essay writing, Poser making, Culinary Expertise, Drawing and Mehendi competition, Rangoli competition and Student of the year competition. Simultaneously students also celebrated days like Mismatch Day, Red and Rose Day, Fancy Dress Day, Black-White Day and TieandSaree Day.

On 19th January Annual Convocation for T.Y.Bcom students for year 2014-15 was organized. Dr. Vijay Joshi, Principal J.K.Somaiya College was the chief guest for the function. Traditional Day was celebrated on 24th February which witnessed excellent response from all students for competitions like solo singing, duet singing, solo dancing. On 27th February college cultural committee celebrated Marathi Bhasha Diwas. The year ended with Annual Day and Annual Prize distribution on 29th February 2016. On the same day college cultural committee also gave farewell to principal Dr. L.R. Tiwari Sir.

This year also students participated in various inter-collegiate competition held in various colleges.
